Born From a Need for More Speed

Modern time trials have moved beyond anything a traditional TT bike was ever meant to handle. Speeds have risen, demands have changed, and the margins that decide victory have become impossibly thin. When Tudor Pro Cycling came to BMC, their message was uncompromising: We need more speed, 3% more speed. Not for theory. For real racing. For real wins. 

The Impec Lab turned that challenge into a mission and starting from a blank page, engineers and aerodynamicists rebuilt everything: shapes, interfaces, airflow behaviour. Through modular prototypes, CFD breakthroughs, wind-tunnel validation, and velodrome testing, the team pushed the boundaries of what a TT bike can be. 

This is not a bike for everyday riders. It is a purpose-built racing weapon, created exclusively for the world’s fastest athletes competing for seconds at the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia.

The Development Journey

Every breakthrough begins with momentum. At BMC’s Impec Lab, development is not a linear process, it’s a continuous flow of ideas, testing and refinement.

This unique in-house environment allows our engineers to move instantly from concept to CFD analysis, from rapid prototyping to wind tunnel validation, and straight into real-world testing. No waiting on external suppliers. No interruptions. Just pure, uninterrupted progress.

This freedom to act quickly also meant freedom to explore deeper. Individual elements of the Timemachine Mpc. frameset were developed and optimized one by one, each detail refined in isolation before being combined into a perfectly balanced aerodynamic system. It’s a process driven by curiosity, precision, and an uncompromising pursuit of speed. That relentless pace defined the journey.

Rapid prototyping at the Impec Lab made it possible to compress development timelines without sacrificing performance, delivering a race-ready Timemachine Mpc. platform in time for Tudor Pro Cycling to line up at the start of the 2026 season, armed with a bike shaped by innovation, speed and purpose.

Let’s be honest. We’d all love to have the watts of a WorldTour athlete and when you look at the Timemachine Mpc., it’s tempting to believe this rocket ship might magically give them to you. But the truth is, this bike wasn’t built for daydreams or Sunday bragging rights. 

The Timemachine Mpc. was developed in full partnership with Tudor Pro Cycling from day one. Every requirement, every iteration, every test was defined at race pace, for riders who actually do produce those watts. No commercial checklists. No compromises. Just pure, unapologetic speed, engineered for the fastest athletes in the world.

Impec Lab: The Home of Create Speed

This fourth-generation time trial platform is a culmination of BMC’s legacy in aerodynamic innovation. A skunkworks project brought to life inside the Impec Lab, it combines advanced CFD analysis, multiple wind tunnel campaigns, modular 3D-printed prototyping and real-world velodrome validation to push bike aerodynamics into a new era.

We call this AeroSynthesis.

The Need for More Speed

Modern World Tour time trials are won above 55 km/h. To meet this reality, the Timemachine Mpc. was engineered to deliver over 3% performance gain to the system (rider + components + frame), with the frameset alone achieving a staggering 37.6% aerodynamic improvement over previous generations.  

Speed isn’t a goal, it’s the requirement. 

AeroSynthesis: Total System Speed

AeroSynthesis is BMC’s next-step design philosophy: harmonizing rider, frame, and components into a single aerodynamic system, using advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD), wind tunnel testing, and real-world testing.  

The result? Lower drag, optimized airflow, unmatched stability at race speeds and handling that feels like an extension of a pro rider’s road setup: sharp, precise, and confidence-inspiring at 60 km/h.

Masterpiece: Iconic is Never an Accident

A Masterpiece is entirely different. 

The particular shapes and high performance requirements of the Timemachine demand our Masterpiece treatment. It demands superior skillsets and the most advanced tools. This is a level of manufacturing excellence that only a few Masters can deliver.

The Result

After hundreds of hours, CFD simulations, prototyping, wind tunnel testing, laps of the velodrome as well as real world analysis, after much blood, sweat and tears, the teams ended up with a Timemachine that made the full system drag 4.1% faster, if only the process ended there, in walks the UCI. 

The UCI introduced a new set of rules from the 2026 season onwards. The combined power of the Tudor Pro Cycling innovation team together with the Impec Lab engineers, allowed the remodeling, prototyping and testing of a UCI approved platform in a matter of weeks, with a final overall system drag reduction of 3.7%.  

Overshooting the ambitious kick-off goal of 3%, the result was clear: when the clock is ticking, speed still finds a way.
